Episode 104

Episode #100 - How Much Is On Your Heart Now? What Is Next?

The podcast has officially reached 100 episodes…but the work is only just beginning of the mission of Speaking From The Heart. It’s time, however, to check in on the original question that introduced the show in the beginning: have we covered what is on your heart? Are we developing the best relationships, developing our confidence, and being filled with determination to do what was once impossible? In this very important milestone episode, not only will we look back on the most important concepts that have been built thus far, but what is to come in the next 100 episodes (& beyond!)

Intro:

Welcome to the podcast where relationships, confidence, and

2

:

determination all converge into

an amazing, heartfelt experience.

3

:

This is Speaking From The Heart.

4

:

Joshua: Welcome back to a very special

100th episode of Speaking from the Heart,

5

:

and this is such an exciting time for not

only you, the listener, but for me, your

6

:

podcast host, to be able to celebrate

being at this important milestone that

7

:

not many podcasters, especially starting

out, ever get to achieve, and I've been

8

:

really fortunate because it's almost

a year since I started the podcast and

9

:

I've already reached this important

milestone, so I really appreciate the

10

:

fact that I've had many of you continue

to support me and follow along with

11

:

this process, and I really appreciate

your following and your listening to

12

:

this important show, even today for that

matter, because today I want to ask a

13

:

question that I asked all the way back

in episode one: What is on your heart?

14

:

If you didn't listen to that episode

and you've been following along because

15

:

you came amongst the other episodes

that have come out, I encourage you

16

:

to stop listening now and go check

out that very first episode which

17

:

set the premise for what we have gone

through since 99 episodes since then

18

:

of all the different adventures, not

only that involved guests, but also

19

:

what we have learned along the way.

20

:

I can't tell you enough how many

people have been touched by not only

21

:

the show, but also by the fact that

we've covered so many different types

22

:

of topics overall, and I think that's

really where we should start today.

23

:

Where have we come from?

24

:

Where are we leading towards?

25

:

Then ultimately, I'll get back to that

question of what is on your heart?

26

:

I would have never thought in

such a long time since starting

27

:

this that I would still be doing

this, to be honest with you.

28

:

What originally started as a three

month adventure that I was going to

29

:

do, 90 days at max, really turned into

something that completely changed my

30

:

perspective, along with my ability to

become more confident and being able

31

:

to help you succeed, not only in the

personal matters, but the professional

32

:

matters; no matter if it was public

speaking or resumes or interviews, which

33

:

we've talked about even early on in this

show, but it's about what you can do to

34

:

keep growing, not only in your vulnerable

state, but in the things that you might

35

:

be challenged in from day in to day out.

36

:

I can only imagine what people feel

when you start to learn and process all

37

:

the different things that have changed,

not only your psychic abilities, to

38

:

even the things that you have been

through, whether that has been some

39

:

dramatic things, including escaping the

Church of Scientology, which you might

40

:

remember from one of our episodes in

which we had Katherine Spallino on, all

41

:

the way to even dealing with domestic

violence, which we had Michelle Westgate

42

:

in very early episode in which it

was one of our very first interviews.

43

:

Besides all those things that we have

covered in between that, one of the

44

:

things that I think is really important

to start thinking about, even with

45

:

all the things that we've covered

thus far, is what have we learned?

46

:

What is it that we're able to now do as

a result of learning so many new things?

47

:

I get it.

48

:

We probably have forgotten all about the

things that I've said, even in Episode

49

:

3, but even if you remember all the

things I said in 26, 52, or 74, I think

50

:

that what is really important is that

you understand that it's all about what

51

:

you get out of those conversations.

52

:

Not only do you get out of this host

that is talking to you right now,

53

:

but also the facts, the figures,

the statistics, the information

54

:

that pours into your heart and soul.

55

:

That is what is really more important than

any sort of number, any sort of download,

56

:

or any sort of ability to be able to

become better in your overall world view.

57

:

It's all about understanding, though,

how we can take this information and

58

:

apply it to our everyday lives, and

I think that our work, especially

59

:

when it comes to doing that, is

only just beginning on this show.

60

:

Now, you might be asking

yourself, "Just beginning?

61

:

Josh, you're literally talking

about doing 100 episodes.

62

:

You should be having cake.

63

:

You should be throwing up confetti.

64

:

You should be doing the things that

help you celebrate all these amazing

65

:

things that you have done.", but all

along, this show has not been about me.

66

:

It's been about you, the listener.

67

:

What have you learned from not only

the people that have been able to talk

68

:

to me, but also what have you learned

from the facts, figures, statistics,

69

:

all kinds of other viewpoints that

normally you might not hear about?

70

:

That is what's really more

important than anything else.

71

:

I think what I find really interesting

about our conversations that we've had

72

:

on this show is about the wide diversity

of the different people that we've had.

73

:

Everything from dealing with pelvic

floors, which you might remember Paula

74

:

Bruckner's episode, all the way to the

people that do some of the most amazing

75

:

things: coaching, inspiring and helping

others, even dealing with happiness

76

:

for that matter, remember Piret?

77

:

Episode number 84?

78

:

All these different things, all these

different aspects in our lives can touch

79

:

us in a variety of different ways, whether

that is somebody that we know, somebody

80

:

that we know through somebody else, or

even ourselves and our immediate family.

81

:

I think that's what's really more

important than anything else is

82

:

to know that even after having 99

conversations, whether it's through

83

:

me or through somebody else, it's

about what we can do to ultimately

84

:

achieve greatness in our lives.

85

:

Greatness, though, is really a factor

that we have to understand not only in

86

:

the context of what we can do, but what

we have the ability to do in the future.

87

:

You're right.

88

:

Where's the music?

89

:

Where's all the inspirational quotes?

90

:

Where are all the guests that we've had?

91

:

Why aren't we celebrating with all of

them at this moment, at this juncture?

92

:

Well, like I said, the work

is only just beginning.

93

:

When I recorded episode number

52, I was thinking that, "Wow.

94

:

I'm more than halfway through.

95

:

I know that I can continue to do this.

96

:

I'm already feeling the sense of

empowerment, the ability to keep moving

97

:

forward; to keep seeing what is there

at the distance, and keep on trying to

98

:

encourage others through the words that

we have on this podcast to help others

99

:

get through what they might be going

through, but something happened, even

100

:

then, which I've shared in other episodes,

that I want to share with you now.

101

:

The most interesting thing about this

is that I'm recording this less than

102

:

a week before the show actually airs,

which of course, you do that in the real

103

:

production of any podcast or any show.

104

:

You try to have as much content planned

ahead as possible so that you're able to

105

:

do some of the things that you're able

to do in your daily business, whether

106

:

that is actually running a business like

I do, which, as all of you may know at

107

:

this point, or if you're listening to

this episode for the first time, this

108

:

podcast is an extension of my coaching

business, Your Speaking Voice LLC,

109

:

which its mission is to help others find

their voice in this ever changing world.

110

:

Whether you are figuring out what

that voice is, I was figuring out

111

:

my voice going through this process,

and I will tell you that the

112

:

biggest thing that I've been able to

overcome is the imposter syndrome.

113

:

Being able to know that I have this

self worth, to be able to share it with

114

:

others; to know that I can introduce

others to some amazing content, to

115

:

some things that otherwise wouldn't

be talked about on other shows.

116

:

That is what really makes this

the most authentic of all.

117

:

Now, if you want to go ahead and sponsor

someone else, or if you want to go ahead

118

:

and say that, "This is ridiculous, Josh.

119

:

You are not authentic.", feel free to

challenge me on it, but the real gist

120

:

of it is that I've been putting off this

episode for the longest time because I

121

:

wanted to get a real sense of knowing what

I felt as I approached this milestone,

122

:

which is why I waited until almost a

week before to give you my thoughts.

123

:

This episode was actually meant

to be something much bigger.

124

:

I wanted to have more

of a production with it.

125

:

I wanted to have people's quotes.

126

:

I wanted to bring back some of these

guests, maybe even invite somebody that

127

:

we haven't had on the show yet to have

a little bit of a mini conversation that

128

:

we would tie into this bigger message

that we're having today, but, alas, as

129

:

I mentioned in many other episodes, I've

been going through quite a fundamental

130

:

change in my own life: having to move in

different ways, not only in the physical

131

:

sense, which I am closer to my office

now, but also changing who I am so

132

:

that I don't fear fear itself, because

I had been suffering from that, even

133

:

up to the point that I was starting to

record this episode, and I immediately

134

:

shut it off, because I was still

afraid of telling what was on my heart.

135

:

"Huh.

136

:

That's interesting.

137

:

You're afraid of telling what is on

your heart, Joshua, but yet you've

138

:

been sharing many different types of

viewpoints about what is on your heart,

139

:

and in a variety of different ways."

140

:

I know, it sounds silly, right,

and you might be even confused.

141

:

What is it that you're actually

going through in which creates

142

:

this division inside of you?

143

:

What is it that's holding you back

from being able to really become

144

:

the best version of who you are?

145

:

I think that's really what I

want to share with you today.

146

:

I think that we often think about the

most important things in our lives

147

:

to be something that we really need

to spend as much time as possible in

148

:

achieving, whether that's something

that we need to do in terms of getting

149

:

a job promotion, or whether that means

that we really need to focus on our

150

:

relationship with someone else so that

they know that we love them and care

151

:

about them and we worship them and we

cherish them, but then we also have the

152

:

things that we struggle with internally.

153

:

What is it that we give ourselves value in

doing in which we have that relationship

154

:

with somebody else, in which we're able to

create not only those opportunities that

155

:

we keep talking about on every episode,

but also talking about the things that

156

:

we can learn from each other, so that we

continue to grow and foster relationships,

157

:

confidence, and determination, which for

those that are new, are also the three

158

:

values of my business that I stand on

with each of my clients that I have.

159

:

I think what's really interesting above

all of those three values is that,

160

:

even for me, I keep asking myself that

question: What is yet to hold me back?

161

:

What is yet to keep pushing me forward?

162

:

What is yet to help me build not only

the value that I have inside of me,

163

:

but what I have yet to give in this

giving world that we also live in?

164

:

You know, at the time of this recording,

there's a lot of other things that are

165

:

happening in our lives, which include

even the stuff that you see in the news:

166

:

the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsing

in Baltimore, Maryland; the division

167

:

that we see in our politics, the ability

to continue pushing forward, knowing

168

:

that the economic trials that we are

going through at this very moment are

169

:

very much straining the purses and

the wallets of many Americans, maybe

170

:

even others across the world for that

matter, but yet, as I even look at the

171

:

landscape of where we're at at this very

moment in which I record this, I see

172

:

something else that's happening: even

more division, and even more frustration.

173

:

More loneliness.

174

:

The inability to communicate.

175

:

The ability to understand what other

people are thinking and being able to

176

:

rationalize a conversation so that we're

able to work through those differences.

177

:

Even being able to understand what

we are able to become, because what

178

:

we're able to become isn't just about

what we're doing, but it's about

179

:

what we're able to do as a result of

all the things we are going through.

180

:

As a matter of fact, I could even be

one of those people that says that I

181

:

was limiting my own ability to become

better every single time that I tried

182

:

to work on myself, and I see others

trying to work on others as well.

183

:

It's an interesting phenomenon, as we

continue to grow in ourselves, that

184

:

we also forget about ourselves and

that is what is really on my heart.

185

:

What is it that we really need to

understand in as a result of all

186

:

these things that are happening?

187

:

What is it that we can do to become

better, to be able to understand

188

:

and create the value proposition

for somebody else to understand that

189

:

we're able to create and worship our

own selves to be able to then serve

190

:

others in this ever changing world.

191

:

In other words, I'm going to ask

again: How much is on your heart now

192

:

as a result of going through this

awesome process of transformation?

193

:

Whether you are jumping on the bandwagon

starting here at episode 100 and

194

:

moving forward and not looking back,

or you're going to go back and listen

195

:

to episode number 1 and go through

hours of content that I've created.

196

:

Remember that it's about what you want

to learn and what you want to absorb.

197

:

It's always been my intention on every

episode, whether I've had a guest

198

:

or I've done a monologue, to always

leave a couple nuggets of wisdom to

199

:

be able for you to think about and

rationalize and contemplate, whether

200

:

that's through meditation, journaling,

or other things, the ability for you

201

:

to continue growing in the ways in

which your heart is leading you to.

202

:

For me, I can tell you of how many

guests that have just changed my

203

:

perspective overall, starting with even

my best friend being the very first

204

:

person I interviewed, Chris Hulse.

205

:

If it wasn't for Chris, I wouldn't

be alive and I wouldn't be even

206

:

doing this podcast today, and

I've told them that so many times.

207

:

If it wasn't for people like Tracy

Tienken, who changed my definition of not

208

:

thinking about disability as a word, but

thinking about it as being differently

209

:

enabled, changes the whole landscape

of what I am able to understand about

210

:

what other people are going through,

especially if I see it as a disability.

211

:

By the way, I now see it

as differently enabled.

212

:

You could have a story like Len Tran's,

in which he escaped that communist

213

:

nation and been able to survive, to

get to a boat, to be able to come

214

:

to America and live a dream in which

he's able to not only inspire others

215

:

through his own Breaking the Bricks

book, but even speaking to others.

216

:

Those are the kind of stories that

allow me to understand that I have

217

:

a world of learning yet to do, and

a whole world of understanding other

218

:

people's perspectives so that I can

grow, not only as a human being, but

219

:

to be a better coach for everyone else.

220

:

The fascinating thing about the coaching

industry, which is highly unregulated,

221

:

is that anybody can do anything that

they really want and they don't really

222

:

have to back it up with any evidence.

223

:

Sure, I can go on and on about my two

master's degrees, my ability to work

224

:

in over 12 years in Toastmasters, to

know that I'm certified in Crucial

225

:

Conversations, and go on and on about

all the different life experiences

226

:

that I've already gone through.

227

:

Oh, wait, did I already just do that?

228

:

Sorry, but maybe I need to remind you that

it doesn't matter what people go through.

229

:

It's about what your willingness

is to be able to change.

230

:

It's about what is really on your

heart so that you can change, and it

231

:

isn't just about what's on your heart.

232

:

It's about what you sometimes have

to let go of in order to create not

233

:

just those relationships, confidence,

and determination inside of you,

234

:

but the ability to unlock your

voice in this ever changing world.

235

:

That has been the biggest premise

of doing this show and helping, not

236

:

just myself, but helping you achieve

that great value, because you have

237

:

always been, the end in sight.

238

:

How much will be on your heart

even after listening to this?

239

:

Are you still going to go back and

look at episodes and think, "Wish I

240

:

could be that type of person?", or are

you going to go and listen to another

241

:

person that's challenging themselves

to become better, like Kaneshi Hart,

242

:

and go, "Hmm, that sounds great.

243

:

I'm just going to sit here and just

watch.", or are you going to actually

244

:

lose that momentum that you have, which

we talked about in episode number 79,

245

:

and not do anything about it whatsoever?

246

:

Are you going to try to communicate

with the difficult ones, the people

247

:

that never want to listen to you,

because you are not listening to them?

248

:

Maybe they feel the same way about

you, but maybe you can be like James

249

:

Marland; episode number 64, in which

we talked about his ability to keep

250

:

moving content forward because not

only is it about the next generation,

251

:

but it's about who he wants to be

as a human being to serve others.

252

:

That can be even more important

than anything else too.

253

:

I can go on and on.

254

:

Neurodiversity with Leanne

Firestone, episode number 58.

255

:

We could talk about even my interview

with the fact that even people that

256

:

are going through so many different

types of exercise fatigue, which

257

:

includes even Brock Waluk, who we

talked about just in the last episode.

258

:

Those people; they are not giving up.

259

:

They are striving for something better.

260

:

That is the reason why we continue

to give and give and give.

261

:

You can write books and take photos

like we did in episode number 36 with

262

:

Mia McGlynn, who has even helped me

since that episode that we recorded

263

:

to be able to work on my business to

see that I have a brand, that I have

264

:

an opportunity to become something

so much better than I am doing today,

265

:

so, what are you going to wait for?

266

:

The next opportunity, like many of

these other people that have been

267

:

on my show, to drop on your lap?

268

:

Maybe you want to be in that

relationship that you can love.

269

:

Talk with Jess Lynn.

270

:

Let's talk to her.

271

:

Let's talk to Melissa Kellogg.

272

:

Let's address the fact that no matter

what kind of rifts that happen in your

273

:

life, you can still start a business

and continue to run that business for

274

:

the betterment of so many other people,

or maybe you can just use your energy

275

:

that you have, which we talked about

in episode number 92 with Anna Schmidt,

276

:

and see whether those scary apparitions,

whether you want to believe that

277

:

they're made in Hollywood or they're

actually real, are holding you back.

278

:

I can go on and on, but I think that

the real point of doing this, and

279

:

continuing to do this, is that there's

so much more on my heart, and there's

280

:

so much more on other people's hearts

that need to be shared in this world,

281

:

that just wants to be listened to.

282

:

You know, it's been a long road to get

to this point, and I'm really proud

283

:

of the number of people that have

believed in the mission of this podcast

284

:

and want to continue the conversation

of what it means to be authentic.

285

:

Having six to seven figure coaches

even on this show, have been not

286

:

only a blessing to myself, but

also been a blessing to others.

287

:

All the Toastmasters that have been on

this show; all the people that do some

288

:

odds and ends in business, like Matthew

Roda, who since then has opened his own

289

:

business, Lead by Example Marketing.

290

:

These are the people, these are the

stories that even after this point in

291

:

moving forward, they have a drive, they

have an ambition to just keep trying,

292

:

and I know that sometimes trying can

be hard, but trying in itself means

293

:

that you have a radical opportunity

to move forward, to make a choice when

294

:

sometimes choices are hard to make.

295

:

I can't tell you how many choices I

have yet to make in my business, which

296

:

I have to say has been amazing to do

and meet so many people, and I have

297

:

only scratched the surface of what yet

is to come, but when I look at all the

298

:

people, all the inspirational stories

that are out there, I am forever humbled.

299

:

I am filled with joy and the satisfaction

of knowing that sometimes even the saddest

300

:

stories, even the saddest things that

happen can have opportunities to grow.

301

:

I will tell you that there's many more

episodes ahead and I am so excited

302

:

to be able to share them with you for

the next several months, because there

303

:

are so many of them that I've already

recorded, and I can't wait to share with

304

:

you the amazing content that we have.

305

:

A lot of them are not only about what

that journey of inspiration is, but

306

:

it's about how they've been able to not

only see what's inside of themselves,

307

:

but to be able to speak from the heart

with authenticity, conviction and

308

:

purpose, so how much is on your heart is

really the question I want to address.

309

:

I think it's really about not only

your purpose, but it's about your

310

:

willingness to keep moving forward,

regardless of the odds; knowing that

311

:

people might not like you for who you

are and what you're doing, but you

312

:

still keep doing it, no matter what.

313

:

It's about not how hard you can get hit,

it's about how you keep moving forward, as

314

:

Rocky Balboa would put it, and I know that

for many of you, this journey is only just

315

:

beginning, just as much as it is for me.

316

:

If you are sitting here, and you are

listening to this, whether you're drinking

317

:

your favorite drink, you're working

away at your job, or you might be even

318

:

thinking about what are the endless

possibilities after listening to this

319

:

episode, I want you to know, that the

hope that you have is still inside of you.

320

:

What is on your heart is an enduring

question that we'll continue to ask

321

:

on this show, that we'll continue

to keep pushing forward, not only on

322

:

the things that make up the values

of my business, but we'll work on the

323

:

things that will help you become the

best version of yourself, which is

324

:

ultimately what we all want to achieve.

325

:

We all have that willingness to do it,

it's just a matter of acknowledging that

326

:

we have that ability to unlock what's

inside of ourselves to just do it.

327

:

If any of my guests have been

any inspiration whatsoever,

328

:

just know that those people

are continuing to make a mark.

329

:

Whether they have quit their business

and shifted to something else, which

330

:

I've had a few already do, or it could

be even somebody else that you know

331

:

that has been on this show and has

inspired you and you've formed that new

332

:

relationship, I want you to know that

there are people that will care about

333

:

you and will surround you no matter

what you're going through to create that

334

:

opportunity that you have inside of you.

335

:

It's just a matter of keeping

that movement forward.

336

:

What is next?

337

:

Episode 100 is almost done, and the

journey ahead in episode 101 and above is

338

:

going to be the most radical opportunity

for me to continue these conversations,

339

:

so we're not changing anything.

340

:

The monologue episodes are here to stay.

341

:

The interview episodes are here to stay.

342

:

My commentary, in which I give you some

nuggets of wisdom, is here to stay.

343

:

All the things that you have gotten to

know about me and this show are only just

344

:

evolving and growing, and that's what I

want to continue doing with all of you,

345

:

because I want you to evolve and grow

with me, just as much as many of you have

346

:

been following along with that evolving

and growing process since episode one.

347

:

You have what it takes to become

something of immense value.

348

:

Whether that means that you have to

deconstruct yourself to rebuild into

349

:

something more amazing than you have been

before, it's about what you're going to

350

:

do with all this information that we have.

351

:

All these things that we present to you

is for your taking and no, I'm not going

352

:

to push you to do all the homework of

listening to all the other episodes.

353

:

Jump on now.

354

:

Join us in this amazing opportunity

to not only learn more about the human

355

:

condition, but to learn more about

what it means to go through these

356

:

authentic conversations, to hear the

raw stories of people, whether they're

357

:

on the surface, or they dig very deep.

358

:

I want you to know that we all

have a place in this world to

359

:

share that awesome opportunity.

360

:

You have that ability to convince

yourself that what is on your

361

:

heart can be shared to this world.

362

:

That your relationships are

very important to other people.

363

:

That developing a confidence doesn't

just mean listening, but by doing, and

364

:

that determination has to fill our soul,

to fill our hearts, to be able to keep

365

:

pushing forward, no matter what, and no

matter where you are in this world, which

366

:

I've been amazed by how many countries

that we are in as of this recording.

367

:

The number of countries,

which are dozens upon dozens.

368

:

I want you all to know that no matter

where you are in this world, there is

369

:

a chance for you to be heard from, to

be respected, to be appreciated, to

370

:

be listened to, and more importantly,

I want to make sure that I hear the

371

:

"thump thump" inside your heart.

372

:

Before I wrap up, I want to give a

couple thanks to some people that

373

:

have made this really possible.

374

:

First off, I want to thank Michael Dugan,

which he's been an inspiration, and you're

375

:

going to hear from him directly in some

future episodes from him in terms of

376

:

not only what he's about, but who he is,

but he's been doing the intro and outro

377

:

for this show as you listen to every

time, so I want to thank Michael so much

378

:

for being part of this process with me.

379

:

I also want to thank John Schuchman,

host of the Real Estate Survival Guide,

380

:

one of the top podcasts as of this date,

for not only his inspiration, but the

381

:

fact that he grew his own podcast from

his own business of doing real estate,

382

:

and if it wasn't for John, I wouldn't

be doing what I'm doing now, so John.

383

:

I know that we'll also hear from you in

a future episode, but I want to thank

384

:

you again for all that you've given

me and allowing me to see what I have

385

:

is incredible value to offer others.

386

:

I also want to thank Melody Taylor,

who's been one of my best friends,

387

:

supporting me from the get go when

I had this first vision of not only

388

:

the business, but also the podcast.

389

:

If it wasn't for her, I would not be

half the person that I am today, so thank

390

:

you for not only helping me, Melody, but

spending time with me to process some

391

:

of the things that normally I probably

should pay someone to do, but you've

392

:

been listening to not only some of the

things I've gone through, but also been

393

:

a big champion of my business, but I

want to thank all of you, the listeners

394

:

for supporting this show to getting to

episode number 100, and to all my past

395

:

guests, because if it wasn't for you,

I would not have what's on my heart,

396

:

which is joy, compassion, and the

persistence to keep listening to you,

397

:

all the other hearts that are "thump

thumping" in this ever changing world.

398

:

Thanks for listening to episode number

100 of Speaking From the Heart, and

399

:

I look forward to hearing from your

heart, "thump thump", very soon.

400

:

Outro: Thanks for listening.
