Episode #155 - Believe In Yourself

It is so easy to forget that you have the ultimate power to either succeed or fail. Many famous celebrities, both off & on films, television and other expressive mediums have all struggled with this, whether they are public about this or not. What does it mean to believe in yourself, especially with the world that is ever-changing? How can we keep the faith when it is tougher some days over others? In this powerful episode digging deep into this manifestation, we challenge your beliefs on how to hold on to what you are passionate about.

Intro:

Welcome to the podcast where relationships, confidence, and

2

:

determination all converge into

an amazing, heartfelt experience.

3

:

This is Speaking From The Heart.

4

:

Joshua: Welcome back to episode

number 155 of Speaking From the Heart.

5

:

I believe in you and believe in this

journey that you've been on, and I

6

:

appreciate so much that you continuously

turn in every single week to listen to

7

:

not only what I have to say, but what

you have to give back to the world as

8

:

a whole, and for all those reasons, I

wanted to let you know, I have seen you,

9

:

I have heard you, and I believe in you

always and forever, and today, we're

10

:

going to talk about why it's so important

to keep on believing in yourself, even

11

:

if there's nobody else except for me,

that keeps on telling you the same.

12

:

I think this is a very important

subject for a variety of reasons.

13

:

First off, it's almost the end of

this whole entire year of:

14

:

can't believe how fast it's gone by.

15

:

It's been so easy to forget about all

the episodes that I have done, about

16

:

all the subjects that we have covered,

but we need to go back to the roots.

17

:

We have to listen to our own perspectives.

18

:

Believing in ourselves means that

we have to trust on what we've

19

:

been working on for all this time.

20

:

It's so easy to forget that we have this

ultimate power, this ability to either

21

:

succeed or fail, and even celebrities,

those that are on the television screen

22

:

that we watch, whether it's on streaming

services or network television, or even

23

:

all the movies, all the short films that

we watch, you have to learn that being

24

:

expressive means that we have to believe

in ourselves, even when other people might

25

:

not believe in us, just like how actors,

celebrities for that matter, sometimes

26

:

even go through those highs and lows.

27

:

This is a very tough subject to talk

about today because it's very abstract.

28

:

It's not our normal conversation where

we're talking about something that is

29

:

very tangible, something that we can

attach to, so I think the best way to go

30

:

about this is to talk about my own story

yet again, but to talk about it in a way

31

:

that yet, although I've shared it with

all these kinds of details previously

32

:

on other episodes for that matter, I

believe that this take might be something

33

:

worth listening to one more time.

34

:

It's so hard for us, especially as

individuals, to think that we always

35

:

have that capability to believe always

in ourselves, and I know that even with

36

:

me saying that, it's just my perspective.

37

:

For many of us, it is very easy to

get up, look at the sun, and realize

38

:

that we can count our blessings.

39

:

We can see that the day ahead is going

to be very eventful and hopeful for

40

:

us, but for many people, that hope,

that ability to say those statements of

41

:

affirmation, are not so easy to overcome,

and even for myself, your podcast host,

42

:

that has always been the case, even

as I continue to do these episodes.

43

:

Believing in yourself means that even

with all the things that are happening,

44

:

and even as time flies by, just like it

is right now, we have to keep looking

45

:

at the faith that we have inside to

get over those tough days that we

46

:

have, but to be able to relax our

standards, our stress that we have,

47

:

to be able to overcome those other

days that are very easy for us to see.

48

:

I was reviewing recently some of the

things that have been going on in my

49

:

life at a Commonwealth perspective,

and for many of you that have been

50

:

following along the show, or have

known me for so long, know that I've

51

:

worked a Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

job being a state civil servant

52

:

for over fourteen and a half years.

53

:

It's been one of the most rewarding

things and has given me a lot of

54

:

perspective on how the world works

from a governmental perspective.

55

:

Call me what you want.

56

:

I guess I am a bureaucrat in many

different ways, but that insight, that

57

:

perspective, has allowed me to dig deep

into this manifestation of how somebody

58

:

might look at the world of government

and how it makes such sense for many of

59

:

us to understand why it takes forever

to do things that we normally think that

60

:

might be easy to do in the first place.

61

:

Why it's so difficult might be

left to your imagination, but I've

62

:

encountered all kinds of people.

63

:

Some of the most nicest, most dedicated

civil servants, to those that give

64

:

a mediocre performance, but keep

on trying anyway, because they are

65

:

doing their best, and then even those

that really suck, and they should

66

:

have been fired a long time ago.

67

:

Obviously, it's very easy for us

to talk about all these different

68

:

perspectives, be able to shed a light

on the things that we need to be working

69

:

on, and I can list specific examples,

but I'm prohibited from doing that.

70

:

I'm not talking about any of those

bad people, because I think government

71

:

does have great service, it does

have a provided need, but given to

72

:

the wrong hands, it can create mass

chaos, and that, unfortunately, is

73

:

where most of my story comes from.

74

:

I've had many bad bosses, most of

them have moved on in their lives

75

:

from the Commonwealth into other

positions, but one thing still rings

76

:

true is that sometimes when those

voices rear their ugly head, I'm still

77

:

saying to myself, "Am I good enough?"

78

:

I think it's so easy to forget that we

have this ultimate power of saying, "No.

79

:

You do not have control of me anymore,

and there's no way that you're

80

:

going to get the best of me today.

81

:

Leave me alone."

82

:

At least that's what you try to tell

yourself, until those voices keep on

83

:

coming back, especially when circumstances

rear their ugly head over and over again.

84

:

I know that I can't be very

specific, but I also know too, that

85

:

for many of us, we have those same

thoughts that manifest from all

86

:

kinds of other places in our life.

87

:

Maybe people that had broken up with us.

88

:

They look at us in the mirror, although

they're no longer there, telling us that

89

:

we're ridiculously ugly, stupid, fat

insecure, all those different adjectives

90

:

that are not only condescending, but

they're not the version of who we are

91

:

today, but at the same time, it's really

hard to accept new people, to accept

92

:

the people that are around us that can

create that manifestation of positivity.

93

:

To tell us that it's okay to have

those bad days, but I'm encircling you,

94

:

I'm trusting you, with that challenge

to keep on working on your beliefs.

95

:

To not be held back, to not

feel like you're unpassionate

96

:

about any of the things that

you are indeed passionate about.

97

:

You are a wonderful soul.

98

:

You are somebody that, regardless of

what your stature is, even if you're a

99

:

celebrity or not, you do have the power

to change everything around you, all

100

:

you need to do is believe in yourself.

101

:

I know that in this world that is

ever changing and is always evolving

102

:

with the different opinions and the

different perspectives that sometimes

103

:

we disagree with, the one perspective

that we count on the most are the voices

104

:

that told us that we are terrible.

105

:

We are insecure.

106

:

We are worth nothing.

107

:

I've had plenty of bonus episodes in

which I've talked about this subject.

108

:

I encourage you to check those out.

109

:

As of the date of this recording, we've

already had two of them, and each of

110

:

them have shown the revolutionary growth

that even me, myself, a business owner,

111

:

a coach, and somebody that is really

trying to keep pushing the perspective

112

:

forward, knows that sometimes that

growth comes in different forms.

113

:

Whether it's the people that we interact

with, or the people that we no longer

114

:

interact with, which both of those

episodes do talk about those perspectives,

115

:

it makes us realize that we have value.

116

:

That we can do some of the toughest

things in our lives, even if other

117

:

people say no, even when they're

no longer around, but I digress.

118

:

I was talking about the Commonwealth,

and yes, a government that's supposed

119

:

to be helping others in their greatest

time of need, is not helping them.

120

:

Where did that trend come from?

121

:

When did we ever stop saying to

ourselves that we can't do what we

122

:

should be able to do, all by ourselves?

123

:

When did it actually begin where we

had to rely on the government to do

124

:

everything, to have everything that we're

supposed to be doing go through them?

125

:

I'm sure my libertarian friends that

are listening to this are jumping

126

:

up and down saying, "Yes, Josh!

127

:

Preach it to the mountains.

128

:

Make sure you know that we want limited

government or no government at all.

129

:

We should be able to dictate and support

ourselves in so many other ways."

130

:

Although, I'm not advocating for any

sort of group by this: libertarian,

131

:

Republican, Democrat, whatever way

that you want to look at this from a

132

:

political lens, that's not my job, and

I've always made that quite clear to

133

:

even my guests, and even for you, my

listeners, that politics is not just

134

:

about what we share as discourse, whether

we want to speak about it or not, It's

135

:

just another idea to me, and it doesn't

mean that any idea is right or wrong.

136

:

Each has its own SWOT analysis that needs

to be done, with SWOT being strengths,

137

:

weaknesses, opportunities, and threats,

and we can even talk about what those

138

:

look like if you're so concerned about

what your belief system is, but that's

139

:

the whole thing, is that even as a

government servant, as somebody that

140

:

helps others in this business that

I've been continuously building, I

141

:

have a sense of curiosity of what it

really means to believe in yourself.

142

:

I think this is the point of the

episode in which I should really

143

:

start discussing what I think is my

viewpoint of how I should believe in

144

:

myself and how it should relate to you.

145

:

That's normally how

these episodes go, right?

146

:

Right?

147

:

I keep saying that thinking that I'll

hear you, my listeners, telling me, "Yes!

148

:

Yes!

149

:

Tell me more!", but I'm going to

do something a little bit different

150

:

that I have never done before

on any other monologue episode,

151

:

and I want you to pay attention.

152

:

I think that it's really important

that you come up with your own

153

:

definition of what it means to believe

in yourself, because you're not

154

:

me, and I am not you, and you have

a voice that allows you to believe

155

:

in yourself just like anybody else.

156

:

Just like anything else that you might

ever do in your whole entire life,

157

:

whether it's on film, television, or some

other medium on social media, or even

158

:

on that old 90s style video recording

camera, if you still have one of those

159

:

camcorders today, trust me on this.

160

:

Your voice is much more sweeter,

much more prouder, much more

161

:

lovely, than you might have ever

given yourself credit, even today.

162

:

This is your pep talk.

163

:

This is the episode that you've been

waiting for, in which it finally

164

:

sinks in all the things that I've been

saying: confidence, relationships,

165

:

determination, being the most authentic

version of yourself, being able to

166

:

share your voice in this ever changing

world, being able to explore topics

167

:

that you have always wanted to explore.

168

:

That's what the trailer of this

podcast even says under some backlit

169

:

music, that sometimes that background

music talks in all kinds of other

170

:

riddles, all kinds of other forms.

171

:

It shows an eager want, but I really

want you to get out of today's episode

172

:

is that you have this ever changing

perspective, and it's okay to be able to

173

:

keep the faith on some days over others.

174

:

It's okay to be who you are.

175

:

It's okay to be weak.

176

:

It's okay to feel ugly, fat, stupid.

177

:

Let those voices come into you and

let them radiate their meanness

178

:

perspective that you don't

deserve, but you have to let it go.

179

:

You have to let it go once and for

all so that you can become not just

180

:

that best version of yourself that

I keep preaching about, but that

181

:

you will finally get out of your own

way to truly enhance the vision and

182

:

the phrase, "I believe in myself."

183

:

That ultimate power that lies inside

of you is something that I've even

184

:

talked about in some of my earlier

episodes of Captain America's Shield,

185

:

and Disney, please don't sue me as I

talk about this, because I'm actually

186

:

helping you to get some money that

you probably don't need, but friends,

187

:

Captain America's shield, the symbol of

hope, the symbol of righteousness, has

188

:

its own coat of arms designed just for

you that has been authentically created

189

:

the moment that you were thought of.

190

:

Whether you believe in some religious

context of that or not is a totally

191

:

different type of conversation, let

alone a decision, that I encourage you

192

:

to have on your own, but hear me out.

193

:

The voice that is ever changing in this

world means that you have to listen

194

:

to yourself, and if you don't check in

on yourself, none of this, none of the

195

:

episodes that I have recorded, even

today's, will ever sink in for you.

196

:

What it means to unlock your hidden

potential, the power to believe in

197

:

yourself, means that you not just

build that framework, whether it is on

198

:

the vision board, whether it's simply

writing on your phone the goals that

199

:

you want to achieve, whether it is about

journaling, whether it is using the

200

:

wheel of life, the color wheel, using

all kinds of other tools that somebody

201

:

has developed, including even the

sphere of influence, which is something

202

:

that I even learned about recently.

203

:

We can assign all the different

shapes, colors, and forms to the

204

:

things that we want to describe in

adjective format, but the truth of

205

:

the matter is you are the artiste.

206

:

You are the perfectionist that allows

you to design and totally control what

207

:

it means to actually believe in yourself.

208

:

Join me in these last few minutes, because

I want to tell you something that is

209

:

really most important, and if you don't

have this in your ear right now, it's time

210

:

to stop what you're doing, put a earbud

in, and listen to what I have to say.

211

:

You, the listener that is listening

to this today, is the most

212

:

authentically created individual

that has ever existed on this earth.

213

:

You are the epiphany of everything that

you have ever thought possible, and

214

:

you are able to believe in things that

others might not ever be able to believe.

215

:

You are the master of your destiny

and you are the truth, you are the

216

:

way in which that goal can be met.

217

:

No matter what voices are

saying to you that you can't.

218

:

No matter what voices are saying

to you that you can, remember, you

219

:

are the best version of yourself,

and that you have the control over

220

:

all these infinite possibilities

if you're willing to manifest them

221

:

into existence, in the physical and

mental sense, give it a chance today.

222

:

You are so worthy.

223

:

You are so powerful.

224

:

You are destined for things that you

have never thought imaginable, and

225

:

for all those reasons, you are the

truth, the way, and the hope, not just

226

:

for yourself, but for so many others.

227

:

I know that you got what it takes,

so, as you click off of this episode

228

:

today, I want you to remember that

ou have all this time left in:

229

:

Make the most of it, because

your podcast host, Joshua D.

230

:

Smith, believes in you just as much

as you can believe in yourself.
